The COVID-19 pandemic has hit many industries hard, including non-profit organizations. Many nonprofits depend on membership dues and in-person fundraiser events for revenue - so how do we keep generating revenue in the new world of virtual everything and saving every possible dime in a time of uncertainty?

Meet the Panelists 

 

 

 

Moderator - Krystine Sipple 

Krystine (Krys) Sipple has over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Her expertise is with creating development programs and governance infrastructures for small, grassroots non-profit organizations. She has worked extensively with non-profit boards to move them from the early stages of hands-on staff support to the mature stages of governance and fundraising for their organizations.

 

She has worked in senior living, health care and education, and currently runs her own nonprofit consulting firm. She is a graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College with a BA in Psychology, a Graduate of the Chester County Leadership Connection, and holds a MS in Nonprofit Leadership from LaSalle University. Krys holds a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation, is a Master Teacher as designated by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and is a registered fundraising counsel. She is a C4 consultant for the Chester County Community Foundation and teaches throughout the region. She is also a columnist for Generocity, a Philadelphia-based social impact news and events group with a mission of building better communities through stronger impact.

 

She most recently served as the interim executive director of Oxford Area Neighborhood Services Center in southern Chester County, and is on the board of Barclay Friends, a senior living community in West Chester, PA. In the past, she has served on the national grants selection committee for the American Medical Association Foundation in Chicago, the board of AFP’s Greater Philadelphia Chapter, as secretary of the Health Care Access Board in Phoenixville, Foundation Chair of the Phoenixville Rotary Board, Membership Chair for the Oxford Rotary Club, and on the Board of the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics. www.krystinesipple.org

 

 

 

 

Panelist -  Joyce Lacy

 

Joyce is the recently retired Executive Director of North Star of Chester County (formerly Interfaith Housing Assistance Corporation), where she served for 10 years. North Star promotes self-sufficiency for single parents who work full time and are not receiving government housing subsidies.

 

During Joyce’s tenure, the agency’s budget doubled, as well as the number of families served. She was heavily involved in over 20 fundraising events, including North Star’s signature Casino Nights and Wine/Beer tastings, both of which were forced to cancel in 2020 and be replaced with virtual events that included online auctions.

 

Prior to joining North Star, Joyce worked for a Fortune 100 corporation, then served as the Director of Experiential Education at Widener University’s School of Business Administration, where she learned about non-profit management by coordinating Volunteer Income Tax Assistance services to low-income taxpayers in Delaware County.

 

Joyce has a BS degree from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Widener University. After raising three sons, she and her husband Roger now live in the Borough of West Chester, where they are rehabbing a 150 year-old carriage house.

 

 

 

 

Panelist - Christy Cosgrove

 

Christy Cosgrove was raised in a philanthropic family where she learned to serve others at a very young age. She started her volunteerism close to home, helping raise money for organizations like the local American Red Cross Donor Center, the American Arthritis Foundation, the Southeast Pennsylvania Autism Resource Center (SPARC), the YMCA Good Kids Campaign, and more.

 

From 2015 to 2016, Christy lent her expertise to the Saints Peter and Paul School as the chair of the Family Fun Day committee, as well as the Donation Chair for the spring auction, Bid, Sip and Celebrate. Christy was also an active member of the Board of Limited Jurisdiction for the school and served as the Development Chair for two years. She was then invited to sit on the Board of Directors for the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, where she currently chairs one of the chamber’s most important fundraisers – the 10 Grand Club event. Christy’s skills of leadership, problem solving and determination would be a benefit to any community.    

 

Christy currently works at La Difference Salon & Day Spa as a manager and colorist. She has traveled the US teaching business and technical classes as a National Artist for Loreal Professionnel. Christy works on air at QVC as the Dyson master stylist selling the Dyson beauty products.

 

 

 

Panelist - Karen DiVincenzo

 

Karen DiVincenzo is the Director of Development at the Arc of Chester County where she oversees events, major gifts, and planned giving. Karen also serves as the agencies corporate sponsor and corporate relations officer.

 

Karen has over 18 years of experience in the financial industry including business development, mortgage origination, branch and call center management, coaching, training and supervision of personnel, budgets and operations. In addition to her professional experience, Karen serves on the Home of the Sparrow Board. She lives in Downingtown with her husband and three children. Karen brings a positive attitude and a strong sense of accountability and responsibility to everything she does, whether in the workplace or in her community.
